Did you know that there are many forms of eating disorders? Most of us are familiar with bulimia or anorexia, but there are many more. Sue Bowles is our guest this week sharing about how her childhood trauma was the catalyst to her eating disorder, and mental health struggles. Her life was changed forever when she was saved during a Christian rock concert. Find out what her connection is with Rich Mullins and how she told her abuse story for the first time at a retreat. Sue Bowles offers hope for those suffering with eating disorders and trauma. Don’t miss this episode.
As a childhood rape survivor, twice suicidal, having battled with depression, and in recovery from an eating disorder, my story of struggle, perseverance, and hope speak to audiences on a wide spectrum.
We all desire to live authentically yet are often held hostage by fear, especially in dealing with mental health struggles. I break the stigma by openly sharing my story, making it okay to not be okay. By sharing my story, others have permission to take their next step in owning theirs.
My story is a story of hope, the power of reaching out, and empowerment of living ‘my step ahead.’
Sue Bowles is a survivor turned award-winning author, speaker, and Master Certified Professional Coach.
She leads My Step Ahead, an organization committed to breaking the stigma around mental health struggles. “You only have to be a step ahead to help the person behind you” is the bedrock to the value Sue brings. She helps stuck people get unstuck by discovering Hope, journeying together for the next step ahead.
Whether speaking on a podcast, stage, or one-on-one, Sue’s enthusiasm is contagious, shining the light of hope wherever the listener needs, cheering them to see their dreams become present reality.
